Apple branded in-ears still seem to do different signaling for the volume buttons even though they have a CTIA pinout.
I currently don't have a phone with Ubuntu on it, but I tested yesterday with some older ME186LL/A from Apple and Sony MH1C[1], where the volume buttons for Sony were working on the Nexus 5 and the Lumia 730. If doing the same thing on the operating system side no matter if an Apple or Android compatible headset is plugged in doesn't violate anything like perhaps a patent, then Matthias' first request should be possible to implement. 3 and 4 look like standard actions and should also be possible. (Perhaps these already do work?) Muting the mic could be made possible with a new button press gesture during call. Here is the link to the corresponding discussion from the mailing list: https://lists.launchpad.net/ubuntu-phone/msg13032.html 1: both were cheap to get on Ebay in the past, today I think you would look for something else like Xiaomi piston or the latest Apple ones -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to dialer-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1462591 Title: audio and micro on/off control with headset Status in dialer-app package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I as the user have the request to make calls while wearing a (in-ear or other) headset connected to the BQ E4.5 device and I want to have with this the following feaatures 1) control of the audio level with + and - buttons (i.e. not with a potentiometer in the lines; 2) control of the micro on/off while in the call and if possible too 3) hangup the call from the headset 4) answer calls from the headset I did tests with the heaadset provided by Apple with the iPhone6. While the audio in general works (tested with youtube and phone calls to an automated answering system of my bank account), the buttons + and - buttons did not have any effect; the button labeled with a micro symbol, terminated the phone call. In addition we should have a list of supported devices if BQ.com will not offer them by their own. Thanks for consideration.
