I haven't been able to reproduce this myself on boot (only by manually stopping unity8), I notice there was also a bug logged at the same time for unity8 crashes here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1473471
Does this only occur when unity8 crashes?
