I do have a an async USB DAC, but I don't remember if I checked the network VS local server with it. I DO have tiny SC up and running again so I can test it. (the problem was they changed the format of the database file and I had an old one on disk, it read that file, came up with an error and quit. I deleted the file, it rescanned and was fine from then on).
One interesting tidbit with async is that I recently found out that the ALSA version currently in the Touch does not correctly implement async USB. The developers have seemed willing to put in the latest version, but I don't think its in there yet. So using an async DAC may not be the best test at the moment.
