Its a bit unclear who you are quoting in this part, perhaps Hartley,
perhaps the mastering engineer, perhaps its your comments.

More the the point. The math of converting SACD's DSD to PCM is not
complex at all. Its trivial. The main selling point of DSD was that it
was so simple, a clueless chip could do it. Its just one bit sampling at
a very high rate. Nothing magic.

The real main selling point of DSD was that it was controlled by Sony,
not that it was technically superiority in any way.

DSD died because it would have required all of the recording studios in
the world to change out their digital systems, which were PCM. At the
time, studios had just recently migrated from 2" tape to digital, and
the industry business model was imploding. No sane studio owner wanted
to put tons of money into an upgrade based on future promisses.
