The zip files have incorrect structure, there is a top directory "DarkMeter-1.0" and "VintageMeter" that can't be there for it to work. The zip directory inside the zip needs to be the "share" directory which is now one level below the top. The result of the extra level in the zip will be that it doesn't replace the standard images, it just adds a new image in the incorrect directory and seems to do nothing when installed. Also, you might want to name the repository xml file a bit more generic since you might want to provide other patches in it than VU Meters in the future. By the way, I love your work, your new VU meter graphics looks really cool. I'd love if you make some cool clock/now playing styles for the Custom Clock applet when you get tired of making VU Meters.
