Theoretically it can be used as a NAS, but its very slow and if you are
playing music at the same time you are serving other files the poor
little computer inside is going to go belly up. 

If you want a NAS, get a real NAS. A VortexBox is a great way to get a
real NAS for general purpose use that also comes with a builtin SBS
which can be the server for the Touch (and any other Squeezeboxen) as
well as a video server etc. It also has an optical drive to rip CDs
right in the box if you don't want to use another computer for that.
The new Micro VortexBox is really small and very low powered, but a bit
more expensive.

Another popular option is the SheevaPlug, which is a small computer
thats the size of wall-wart, it has ethernet and USB connectors and can
run SBS as well as being used as a general purpose NAS.
