Thank you. Now I understand.

I can drive headphones and often do but some photos and a description
of the rest of my system (which is how I usually listen) can be found
in this thread:

Unfortunately as a relative newcomer on this forum I am not "Jazzfan"
since that moniker was taken by the time I became a member.

Yes I've seen that thread but it's not exactly on this topic and I
wanted a more focused thread.

Regarding A-B'ing the Touch and Transporter, just how far such I go,
e.g. simply the Touch's analog outputs versus the Transporter's analog
outputs or should I also include several of the other possible
combinations such as Touch digital out --> Transporter's DAC -->
Transporter analog outputs and/or Touch digital out --> Headroom DAC
--> Headroom analog outputs

All well and good but one if one doesn't have and is not planning on
buying an external DAC or a Home Theater Receiver/Processor with a DAC
and just using a CD player or the computer's analog outputs would the
Touch be a good starting point for getting into the world of streaming
audio (I mean what exactly should we call this method of listening to
computer based digital audio)?

For the record, my answer is yes, definitely.
