I think the problem is that all Squeezeboxes are peripherals, but there is no central product to tie it all together. While it is a huge benefit of the Squeezebox system that you can simply use your computer as a media server and don't need an extra box, that doesn't seem to work for everybody. It's hard to believe, but there are actually people who check their e-mails only once a week, and only turn their computer on to write a letter or to play a game, and switch it off immediately afterwards. See how many users are running SBS on a NAS, VortexBox, or SheevaPlug. So if I may make a guess, the next member of the Squeezebox family has to be a dedicated server with built-in storage. And since they are certainly not developing the embedded SBS as a personal favour for users of 3rd party hardware, that's an easy guess indeed.
