Having digital out and analog out have different volume is not necessarily easy to add. Right now there is one music stream coming out of squeezeplay which gets cloned in the ALSA config file to both the digital out and the DAC chip. In order to have separate volumes you would need to add another output stream which had its own volume control. Plus of course all the UI and prefs etc. I personally would prefer the choice. In some setups I want to use volume control on the digital out and sometimes I'm using volume control on an external preamp and would like to implement the "virtual volume" on the Touch: keep the output actually at 100% but allow applet to grab the volume setting to send to external preamp.
