It could be either hdparm or sdparm. Can you confirm if one or the other or both work with your drive? The USB drive I have now is not spun down by either of these. It would be nice to get a confirmation before attempting to make one of them. I have a development environment setup so I could compile one of them (I suppose I could do both!)
