Several people in different threads have reported that sometimes pushing the power button does not bring up the OFF screensaver. I've filed a bug for this, if you are having this problem please vote for this bug:

It happens when the Touch is not connected to any server (external SBS on LAN, TinySBS, or MySB.com). This can happen if the Touch is not connected externally to anything and no USB drive (or SD card) is inserted, or if TinySBS has died for some reason. For those that are having the problem can you confirm that this is indeed when the problem happens. I have not been able to make it happen if the Touch is connected to a server.
