The usual way to get beta firmware is to install the beta server on a separate computer, point the Touch to it, and it will automatically install the beta firmware which includes the beta version of the builtin server.
Once you have the firmware upgraded you don't have to use the beta server you just installed on the computer. In this case its just being used to install the beta firmware. There ARE other ways but this is the easiest.
