Are you talking about simple power problems?  Or are you suggesting
that other types of problems can be attributed to the disk drive? 
Borderline power problems could easily cause intermittent connectivity
issues, which would undoubtedly cause endless problems  for SqueezeOS
and TinySC.  Scanning, menu navigation, playback would all be affected.
I'm sure Logitech has seen drives with power problems - entries on the
wiki page for known working USB devices suggests that some of the
developers own a few.

If you're looking for an internal mod to make drives work, figure out
how to get more juice to the USB port.
