doesn't help on the touch i realize, but I do this on my other squeezeboxes (transporter, boom, etc.) using the musicinformationscreen plugin combined with titleswitcher. This alternates display of bit rate and file type (mp3 > 192kbs, FLAC > 705kbs, etc.)
