After I disable AutoRescan I tried a bunch of files. At least now music performance is kind of "normal" even though it is kind of slow (database is disabled).
Now when I play m4a (ALAC) files, one improvement is, when the music stalls, it will resume fro where it is left over, rather than going to the next track or repeating the same track from the beginning. Here is what I grabbed from the message file, hopefully they can give the developers here some hint, or give others some reference.
