I went to the netgear site and optimized the device according to the instructions: 1. Select Disable journaling option in the System/Performance page 2. Select Enable Jumbo Frames option in the Network/Ethernet page. Only with those two settings, the problem was gone. But to be on the safe side on the long term I also upgraded the RAM to one GB.
