I have had incredible issues with my Touch when my external hard drive is directly connected to the Touch. My Touch is hard-wired to my internet. Last night, I attached my hard drive to my laptop and ran the server through my laptop (wireless). Worked beautifully. Squeezeplay worked beautifully as well. But I don't want a hard drive connected to my laptop, so here's what I'd like to do:
Connect my hard drive to my old desktop (bought in 2003). Run the Squeezebox Server off of my desktop. I'm confident that my Touch will work well. But here's the thing I want to be able to do. I want to be able to control the Touch remotely using my laptop (and Squeezeplay). Will that work? I'm wondering if Squeezeplay only works on a computer that is also running the Squeezebox server.
