It does not have SMB clients so you cannot mount a samba share. Theoretically you should be able to mount an NFS share, but I think somebody tried doing that and could not get it to work.
If anybody really wants to try mounting an NFS share you can certainly try. Just make sure its an NFS share not an SMB share. Even if you can get it to work there are concerns about scan time over a network. The Touch does not seem to have super fast network transfer speed so there is a big concern that doing a scan on a network share is going to take a REALLY long time.
