well you need to stop the SB server running because you have a usb drive mounted and you should properly unmount the drive BEFORE cutting power. Just like you do not just pull the power cord on your desktop computer. The reason why hitting the power button does not stop the server running is because 1 it takes some time to start it back up and 2 it might be needed for other clients.
