Strange, that difference on my systeem between the Classic and the
Touch. Both are only used as digital transport, so differences should
be far smaller then what I hear in reality. Perhaps the DAC's
sensitivity to RFI and/or jitter?
Anyway, I realised I had my systeem tweaked to improve the focus of the
slightly hazy sounding Classic. After tinkering with the decoupling of
my speakers and some cable magic I got the sound with the Touch
balanced again; though the sound signature remains different, it keeps
sounding more forward then with the Classic it definately crossed the
border from very-hifi-good-but-uninvolving to enjoyable again, so I'm
happy now.
I also did some more listening between tiny SB with HD (FLAC) and
wireless to the PC (FLAC expanded) and the HD version has a slight
sharp edge, so wireless for now and a dedicated wired server in time.
