I would have thought that a reset would have already wiped out those modded files. Did you do a _full_ factory reset? That is, hold the small button on the back down for ~15 seconds, unitl the screen says "Factory reset" or words to that effect. Just turning it off/on or unplugging it doesn't do a factory reset.
People here have reported generally good expeiences with Logitech warranty returns. Your case is a bit more complicated because, strictly speaking, you voided your warranty the minute to connected that non-standard power supply.
