Just for information to anyone interested in RSS as screen saver on
Touch/Radio/Controller. The latest version of Custom Clock applet and
Custom Clock Helper plugin now has support for a new rsstext item type
in their configuration. There is also a "RSS Text Feed" and "Digital
Clock with RSS" style for Touch which is currently configured to show a
allmusic.com RSS feed.
As usual, you can of course combine the rsstext item with any other
items supported by Custom Clock to create your own customized screen
saver.
The new version also supports a "rssicon" item which does the same
thing for image information in RSS feeds.
The solution isn't optional for two reasons:
1. It doesn't work good with long scrolling texts, so the feeds needs
to be fairly short if you want a continuously scrolling text.
2. There is no support in SqueezePlay for vertical scrolling items.
The "RSS Text Feed" style shows and example that shows one RSS item
using the complete screen area.
The "Digital Clock with RSS" style shows an example which have a single
horizontal scrolling item and switches to the next RSS item after 2
minutes.
As usual you need the Custom Clock Helper plugin to configure the style
to for example change to another RSS feed.
