There's no way to disable the notifications themselves, but you can
simply *ignore the update notifications by either swiping the screen
left to right or holding the left arrow on the remote*. You're not
forced to update the firmware at any time.
If you're running 7.5.1 firmware on the Touch and 7.5.1 on your server
then you should update to whatever firmware it suggests in the
notification. This is the latest firmware, with bug fixes. These
updates are fairly rare, usually only happening every couple of months,
plus maybe the occasional emergency update to fix a bug that got past
QA.
But if you're running 7.6.0 firmware on your Touch to fix some 7.5.1
problems and have 7.5.1 on you server, or if you run the internal Touch
server then you'll be prompted to update to 7.5.1. You want to ignore
these updates to version 7.5.1 firmware. You shouldn't see any updates
to newer 7.6.0 firmware, since these only come from a local 7.6.0 SbS
server.
If you run 7.6.0 on your server and 7.6.0 firmware on the Touch then
you'll see update notifications fairly often, possibly daily. If it's
an update notification for a newer 7.6.0 firmware then you should
update, but you don't have to do so every time you're prompted. I
believe you might also be prompted to 'update' to 7.5.1 if you connect
to mysqueezebyx.com. These should be ignored.
