Thanks linvale Now, for me, comes the quest to find a decent pair of powered speakers for the "other zones" where amplification without any ability to EQ is acceptable.
It's in these non-audiophile locations that price /performance of products like the Sonos are hard for the Touch to compete with, and I definitely don't want a mixed setup for WAF and control purposes. After all this whole project is to be her Christmas gift.
