Start the scan and then leave it overnight. Don't touch anything until it is fully complete and depending on how much of that 1TB is used yes, it could take all night. You can go into the settings and view the scan details, and it might seem like it's done but could still be processing album art and other things. But the only way the TinySB will work on the Touch is for the scan to be fully complete before looking for or trying to play music.
