I keep a FLAC library for my Squeezeboxen (1 Slim-branded SB3, two
Radios) and a separate 256-kbps VBR AAC set for iPods. Given the
environment in which the iPods are used (car, gym, airports, etc), the
reasonably-high-quality AAC is indistinguishable from ALAC, and several
times smaller. Is there a compelling reason why you have to keep ALAC
on your iPod?
