I've spent hours trying to get my tracks' artwork to work on both iTunes
and the Touch's tinsysb, using at attached USB HDD.

1. I learned that tinySB uses the folder.jpg artwork in each album's
folder. I worked for hours to extract the artwork from iTunes into the
folder.jpg format. When I moved the tracks to my HDD, many of them
displayed nicely, however, many of them did not display. As it turns
out, those that did not display also had artwork in the tracks.

2. I found utilities that would strip all artwork from the tracks. I
left the folder.jpg file in each folder. I formatted the HDD, moved my
"My Music" folder and subfolders to the HDD, wiped the Touch's database,
and then rescanned. All artwork worked great and displayed very well.
I was a happy camper.

3. Until I returned to iTunes, where I found that many of my tracks now
lack artwork. But not all! This is weird. Turns out, I think, that
some of the tracks' artwork is stored in a hidden mysterious iTunes
database of album art, while others are embedded into tracks.

4. Whenever I add artwork to a track in iTunes using the copy/paste
method with my folder.jpg art, iTunes stores the art embedded in the
file. This will break the Touch's display of the art.

So, my question: Is there any way to force iTunes to store the artwork
in its internal database, rather than embedded in the tracks?

Or, is it possible to get the Touch to use the embedded artwork?

My files are a mixture of mp3 and Apple Lossless.

One possibility would be to maintain two sets of all my music: one with
embedded art, and one without. This seems like sync hassle and a
colossal waste of disk space, but could be done.

Another choice is not to care about iTunes or my iPod, but
realistically, I do use them and would like the artwork to appear.

There must be a more elegant solution. Since the industry is moving
toward embedded art, when will tinysb use the embedded art well?

Thanks
