I have been using my Touch w no wireless network and a 1 TB Toshiba Canvio drive for a little over a month now. Today I added a number of files and after a bit of fiddling got it up and running again. I have approx 14000 files using approx 299GB. It is running just fine.
The one area I continue to struggle w is making sure my tags are correct. I keep a pad and paper at the ready to take notes of issues I see. That way the next time I load more files I will 1st attempt to correct issues. Today I found a large problem w my files of Grateful Dead Dick's Picks. They were tagged using a database accessed from the tagging software. While song titles appear to be correct the albums are all jumbled. This is because different albums in the database are tagged differently ie Volume,Vol.,V,(vol) etc. Most people will not run into this as it is a large collection w like titles. If you are embarking on a project such as this I would recommend writing down a pattern you can follow and check what you get from the database and adjusting accordingly.
