Hello all analogue outputs on different sources are slightly different in sound volume. What you describe, however seems like quite a big difference. Squeezeboxes should be pretty much comparable to CD players when at 100% .. What files are you playing? Where are they from? Do you have replaygain enabled? That lowers the volume significantly.
