The 24/176.4 files will be downconverted by the server with the help of SOX to 24/88.2 if you are using a fast enough (not NAS ) server.
But attaching a HD to the Touch itself this would not work it has only fractions of the cpu and memory needed . So the you need to downconvert on you PC to 24/88.2 for 176.4kHz files and 24/96 for 192kHz files ( 4*44.1=2*88.2=176.4 and 4*48=2*96=192 even multiples works best ). I would suggest buying 24/88.2 or 24/96 from HD tracks , they charge less for those and they would sound identical and does not need transcoding. -- Mnyb -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
