Thats built into the firmware, the backlight will "only" last 5 or 6 years if on full brightness 24/7. Having it dimmed slightly most of the time will up that to 20 years or so. The settings are in the lua code, if you really want to you can SSH into the Touch and change the code. You could change the timeout to 10 minutes and still not impact the life of the backlight much. You could get rid of the dim altogether but then you are limiting the life of the display.
