Tags are metadata that are stored in the FLAC files themselves. They
contain information about artist, album, track number, composer, year
of recording, and many other things, including lyrics. Squeezebox
Server uses the metadata in a database that provides for much more
flexible browsing and playing of your music library than the rigid
pathname/filename format that it is stored in on the disc. 

Tags are usually written at the time of creating the FLAC files, but
sometimes useful tags are not written, or the wrong information is
written in the tags. The best way to view and edit tags is with a
tagging program. A favorite for Windows is the freeware mp3tag
(www.mp3tag.de), which despite the name, works great on FLAC files. For
