The Spotify site specifically limits SqueezeBox playback to the Touch and Radio as far as hardware players. Yes, you can control Spotify on a Touch or Radio using the Duet Controller, but I'll bet it is not "playing" on your Duet Receiver. ;) Plugins cannot be installed on the Touch.
