I have written an applet which controls the power of my amplifier connected via USB/Serial to the Touch (would like to control volume as well, but the server messages are not really useful, but that's another story ...). The big difference seems to be that you want to control other stuff apart from music while I just want to turn on the amp when music is playing and turn it off 10 minutes after no music has been played. This does not need another UI or complicated user settings which would be necessary for controlling all kinds of other stuff in the house. BTW: Both br and heyo compile out of the box using the cross-compiler for the Touch. Just tried it.
