Yes it is, but it is also updated trough mysqueezebox.com (which also is a server) if you connect to that if you have version differences you can have it up and downgrade by switching servers be it on different local server or mysqueezebox.com. But yes it fetches it upgrades trough the server if you are connected to the server and the server in turn is fetching upgrades from the internet. You find the fw in ...cache/updates squeezeboxservers cache folder location varies by wich OS you are running but the update folder is always in the cache.
