OK Now, can I just check that you have your Screensaver (on the Touch itself) set to "Now Playing" when playing? Finally, the next time it goes to the blank screen, you need to make a note of the file that is playing, and whether or not the track has started to play or is ABOUT TO START to play... in other words, do you see the artwork for that track at all or not. My guess is that the screen will go blank before the track starts to play.
