Thanks for the replies. No I did not change anything else. I only installed the SB software from QPKG and installed the mods from Soundcheck. I changed the FLAC format setting to use PCM instead and this worked even for 96khz flac files. I could tell by the indicator on my DAC (my SB streams to DAC via SPDIF, digital output only).
By the way the CPU of the QNAP seems to have little trouble when playing PCM, it never goes beyond 5 / 10 percent load. But if it is true that this PCM is not really supporting 96Khz at all, I will change the Format setting to original again.
