I think that Phil wanted you to take the DAC out of the chain and connect the Touch directly to your amp, is to determine that the track is not causing the noise. What firmware is your Touch running? and your SBS server if you use it? There was an error a while back, that the digital out would shift briefly to 16/44 in between tracks (before the next 24/96 tracks would start) causing noise. So better check that you are on the latest firmware. Actually my DAC caused similar issues. It uses Reed relays in the construction and they are to trigger if there is an incoming signal or not.
