Some USB devices simply do not function with the Touch.  As usual the
finger pointing starts, Logitech blames the USB device, USB device
blames Logitech.  Who knows.
Beyond the basic USB maintenance & setup listed above there is little
one can do to force the Touch to use a USB device it just doesn't
like.

I have two USB sticks that Touch refuses to recognize yet numerous
other non-computer devices (car stereos, mp3 players, AVR's with USB,
etc..) have no issue utilizing them.
I run Touch's built in server with an ancient 64mb SD card without
issue so you should be fine using your SD card.
