on topic: it is usually best to use the digital input on any ht reciever, true analog pasthrue is an anachronism that most mfg's only offer in their more expensive models ( if at all present, "pure bla bla" does not meanthat much ) any processing at all would invoke the dsp and thus an extra da-ad stage including for example subwoofer fillter. And in many products the 7.1 volume controll would be digital too
