The auto-discovery will only work if the server and SB are on the same subnet. For example if the server is 192.168.0.50 and the SB is 192.168.1.25 they are on different subnets and auto-detect will not work, even if you have a route between the subnets.
If the server is on the same subnet as the Touch then you most likely have UDP blocked in the firewall. The auto-detect uses broadcast UDP but the music goes over TCP-IP.
