You don't use the mysqueezebox.com web remote when you are conected to
your local server .
The media server interface you see on the desktop pc is actually
avaible on the whole network from that PC if the firewall have port
9000 open .

You should be able to connect from any pc on the same network by using
an address similar to this this:

http://192.168.1.5:9000/

just change 192.168.1.5 to the ip of your desktop pc , it may even work
with the pc name
