Another option for that is to get a sheevaplug ($100), which looks like
a slightly oversize power module, run the server on that (the software
is called squeezeplug), plug your USB HD into the sheevaplug and run a
short ethernet cable to the Touch. Its still stand alone, you don't
have to connect to the company network, but now you have an external
server as far as the touch is concerned. It should fix a lot of
problems.
