They are for presets - but setting presets on the Touch is a royal PIA. Search for presets & you should find instructions - involves using Settings - Advanced - Beta Features - Shortcuts ... then set an IR Hold button - Set preset button. Then go to desired station - play - hold down chosen preset button until the message that the preset has been set appears. NOT FINISHED yet! Now, repeat the whole process BUT choose IR Hold button, and set this to Play preset button. That's one station done. Repeat the whole process again for station number 2, etc. Have fun! If you have messed up, pressing the chosen number button should play the preset!
