It happened to me too. I usually have my screen disabled, but when I turned the screen on the other day, no clock in standby (this is the only time I have a "screensaver" enabled). It was there when I updated to 7.7.2, but may not have survived the first subsequent power cycle.
I also noticed when I installed the "Enhanced digital output" app the standby clock seemed to have returned.
