Can you give us a little more info on your network setup? Do you have a router in the setup? Are both the vortexbox and the Touch using static IP? If the VB is using DHCP and the Touch is using static IP are you sure the static IP is outside the range the DHCP server is allocating?
I have seen weird things like this being caused by DHCP servers not properly renewing leases. This is usually fixed by rebooting the router. Of course if everything is static then this cannot be the issue. That log file snipet looks like its trying to connect to "squeezenetwork" which is the old name for mysqueezebox.com. Do you have an internet connection on your network? Just a few thoughts.
