The HP proliant microservers N36L or N40L install suitable OS of your
liking ( some are using vortex box distro on those to ).

DIY some other mini itx based computer, a shuttle type PC ?

Successful NAS installs includes the new netgear ready NAS series, never
linkage and QNAP stuff, preferably and x86 based one.

Btw ready LMS package is the only NAS install provided directly by
logitech, other may rely on the nasnvendor or third party developer .

Mac mini ?

The variations are endless , some use any leftover PC they have or the
computer inmthe household that are most likely to be on anyway .

The idea is to wire it with Ethernet to the router and admin in
"headless" without monitor or keyboard .

If you look around in the forums you will find 100's of similar
discussions mostly in the third party hardware forum.
