You should be able to transfer files over the network with the drive still attached to the Touch. Then you do need to rescan, but a "new and changed" scan should be sufficient. I know that when it comes to Touch+USB+TinyLMS that "in principle" is often far from "in practice", but have you at least tried it that way?
