John, It should just work. Which $200 DAC do you have? Are there any lights on it to indicate lock status of the various data rates? If so, what do you observe on those lights? Are there multiple inputs to select the on the DAC for various input connections? Are you sure you have selected the correct one?
Can you swap to using IR Toshlink cable instead of coax as a diagnostic step? Does your receiver have a digital input you could use to test the Touch's digital output (either coax or IR)?
