I have run a live CD of Mageia 2 (
http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=mageia ) which uses
alsa-lib 1.0.25 and kernel 3.3.6.

Judging by these lines in dmesg:

"[ 4.969723] usb 5-5: config 1 has an invalid interface number: 3 but
max is 2" it looks similar to what you get if you connect a Tenor 8802
USB chip.

Here is the output of messages, dmesg and aplay -l:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1184591/mageia/dmesg
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1184591/mageia/aplay-l.txt

proc/asound/cards does not show the DAC, only the integrated sound card
from the laptop.

Seeing that it is detected gives me hope, the DACs name is present in
dmesg and messages. If we assume it is a TE8802 that is known to corrupt
the feedback messages it sends to the linux host, how can we proceed?
